Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) units are critical facilities for offshore oil and gas development, primarily used for the extraction, processing, storage, and export of oil, natural gas, and other energy resources. FPSOs are key equipment for offshore oil development, functioning as comprehensive large-scale offshore production facilities that combine production processing, storage, export, living quarters, and power supply, earning the nickname “offshore oil and gas processing plants.”

As key equipment for offshore oil development, FPSOs not only reflect a nation's industrial capabilities in terms of design, construction, and installation technologies but also, to a considerable extent, demonstrate the overall marine engineering strength of a country through their scale and specialization.

The construction of FPSOs in China marks a milestone for the country’s entry into the high-end oil and gas platform modification sector. The global FPSO market is vast, and China is expected to receive more global orders, further promoting the export of China’s “high-end manufacturing” and supporting world-class marine equipment globally.

Steelda has extensive project experience with the topsides of FPSO and Mobile Offshore Production Units (MOPU). In 2020, Steelda mainly executed the topsides for YINSON MERO 2, working on the projects Ritse and Changfeng.
